What if everyone in the
Lake Travis area read the same
book at the same time, and came together to talk about it? This is the
idea behind the “One Book, One Community” program that was created by the
Center for the Book in Washington, D.C. The Friends of Bee Cave
Public Library, Friends of Lake Travis Community Library, and Friends of
the Spicewood Community Library are joining together to sponsor “Lake
Travis Reads” and we need your help!
Through reading, the community connects.
There is interest in doing this here and if we start now, we could host an
event in the Fall. For our community, Lake Travis ISD seems to be the
central connector between Lakeway, Hills of Lakeway, Bee Cave, part of Spicewood and
other unincorporated areas. Lake Travis has a widespread
demographic base, so having broad community support and choosing the right
book will be important.
Thank you for your consideration. Help us
spread the word and get involved.
Enthusiastically,
